Itv-football - Marcel Desailly could be set to end his career in Qatar after their national team coach Philippe Troussier revealed that the Chelsea defender was in the country recently.

The French international has only made 17 appearances for the Blues this season and has found it difficult breaking into Claudio Ranieri's first-team following the emergence of John Terry in the heart of their defence alongside William Gallas.

The 35-year-old has recently been linked with a move to the Middle East, but insists he wants to stay at Stamford Bridge despite the fact that his place in the national team could come under threat due to his lack of first-team opportunities.

But Troussier claims the former Milan player arrived in Doha recently to meet with the emir of Qatar, Sheikh Ahmad bin Khalifa al-Thani and believes his compatriot may just decide to finish his illustrious career in the oil-rich state.

The former Japan coach declared: "I know that Marcel met with the emir recently. According to my information, there is a strong indication that the Chelsea captain has decided to finish his career in the Qatar championship."
