IFF admits problems of football


PLDC - In a session held at the Iranian Football Federation (IFF) head quarters, the problems of football were discussed on Wednesday, 25/12/2002. Deputy Head of the IFF, Mehdi Khaibari expressed the following views in the presence of the press, “Iran’s major problems in football in Asia is hosting of games. Our country is faced with many difficulties when it comes to the hosting of matches. Such problems have placed us among the bottom five in the Asian hosting list.”

Eskandarian the Younger Is a Goal-Scorer Full of Promise


NYtimes - lecko Eskandarian's fledgling professional soccer career is awash in coincidence. Twenty-two years ago, his father, Andranik, played for Iran in the 1978 World Cup in Argentina. SAIPA stuns Esteqlal


IRNA - SAIPA stunned Esteqlal of Tehran Thursday as it managed to defeat the blues here in the ninth week of Iran Pro League (IPL). Playing on the uneven pitch of Takhti Stadium, south of Tehran, SAIPA struck twice to win the match 2-1, imposing the third loss on Esteqlal.

Sportscaster Behravan transferred to Isfahan


IRNA - Abbas Behravan, sportscaster of Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB), was transferred from Kashan to Isfahan in an ambulance on Wednesday. The ICU chief nurse of Kashan's Naqavi Hospital, Mohammad-Ali Heidari, told IRNA that due to the request of Behravan's family and potential risks, the hospital's doctor let the sportscaster be sent to Isfahan.

Giovanni May, “We should have scored five”


PLDC - According to Giovanni May, head coach of Saipa, the result is more important than a good performance and he will try from this week on to emphasize on the results than other factors. This statement may or may not be true but Saipa is 7th in the league table and they lost to Sepahan in the 8th week with the score of 3-0 which is a cause for concern.

PLDC - Ali Ansarian, Persepolis defender, commented the following in a recent press interview, “I am fine and so is the team. In the last eight matches in Tehran, we have only lost once. In the 8th week of the league two goals were scored against them by Fajr Sepassi almost at the end of the match and Ghalenoi is unsure why this happened as his team was in control of the game and they played well.
