PLDC - Mansour Pourheidari, Sanat Naft head coa ch, spoke about the recent losses suffered by his team and Esteghlal of Tehran in the Iranian professional League in a press interview recently. Sanat Naft has so far won one game and lost two and is in tenth place in the league table.

Virginia's Alecko Eskandarian Named ACC Co-Player Of The Week


NYtimes - ALECKO ESKANDARIAN, a junior at Virginia and one of the top-scoring strikers in the country, will leave college after the season and make himself available for the M.L.S. SuperDraft in January. Eskandarian, whose father, ANDRANIK, played for the Cosmos in the North American Soccer League and internationally for Iran in the 1978 World Cup, has 21 goals this season.

Ansarian is quiet this season

Salehnia, “Malavan believed and won”


PLDC -In the final match in the third week of the Iranian Professional League between Malavan Anzali and Sanat Naft of Abadan, Malavan defeated their opponents with the score of 1-0 and have now climbed two places from the bottom position in the league table to twelfth with three points.

Hejazi, “Iran a launching pad”


PLDC - Naser hejazi, ex-Esteghlal Rasht head coach, is a very frank and outspoken man. He has also recently become a middleman and apparently intends to provide Sturm Grats of Germany and other clubs with Iranian players.

Best of the third week of the League


PLDC - In the third week of the professional Iranian League 14 goals were scored by the teams, which is high by any standards. Of the 7 matches played, three were draws.

Amirabadi objects to referee


PLDC - Mehdi Amirabadi (Siapa of Tehran striker) is at present objecting to the decisions of the referee in the Persepolis – Saipa match which took place on Friday, 01/11/2002, in the 3rd week of the Iranian Professional League which ended with the result of 1-1.
