Bayern Munich releases Karimi

IRNA - Bayern Munich released Ali Karimi on Wednesday, setting the stage for the Iranian midfielder's return to his former club Al-Ahli in the United Arab Emirates, DPA said.

"If he declares that he wants to go, he can leave," Bayern Munich manager Uli Hoeness announced.

An official request from Dubai was sent to us at the beginning of the week, the Bayern official added.

Both clubs have reportedly agreed on Karimi's transfer modalities.

The 28-year-old Karimi had a contract with Bayern until the end of this season.

Prior to his engagement at Bayern, Karimi played for Al-Ahli from 2001 through 2005
