Reza Ghoochannejhad

Tehrantimes - Iran international striker Reza Ghoochannejhad has parted company with Al Kuwait by mutual consent, according to Kuwaiti newspaper Al-Qabas.


Gucci who has scored 9 goals in 14 appearances for Al Kuwait, joined the Persian Gulf side in August on loan from Charlton. The club’s officials had a meeting with the player’s agent and finally decided to terminate his contract.

It’s unknown whether the Iranian-Dutch striker will remain in Kuwait but Al-Qadsia SC has handed a $300,000 offer to sign Gucci.

Ghoochannejhad, who has represented the Netherlands from 2003 to 2007 in the youth ranks, accepted Carlos Queiroz’s invitation to play for Iran senior national team in 2012.

He scored the winning goal against South Korea which led to Iran’s qualification for the 2014 FIFA World Cup.

He also scored Iran’s sole goal in the 3-1 defeat against Bosnia Herzegovina in World Cup group stage match.

In the recent Asian Cup in Australia Ghoochannejhad had an excellent performance, scoring two vital goals against UAE and Iraq.
