TEHRANTIMES - Sanat Naft of Abadan brought an end to Foolad’s 19-match unbeaten run in the Iran Professional League (IPL) on Friday.


Struggling Sanat Naft defeated Foolad 1-0 in the dying moments of the match. Siamak Sarlak scored the only goal in the game held in Abadan’s Takhti Stadium.

“Both teams played well, however, we were the better team and created so many chances. Our strikers missed their chances against Foolad. I think we have yet chance to qualify for the next year’s AFC Champions League,” Hossein Faraki said in the post-match news conference.

Elsewhere, Sepasi pummeled Aluminum 6-0 in its home game, Paykan lost to Rah Ahan 4-2, relegation-threatened Zob Ahan defeated Damash 1-0 in a home game and Malavan was held to a 1-1 draw by Mes in Bandar Anzali.

On Thursday, Persepolis defeated Saipa 4-1 in Tehran’s Azadi Stadium.
