TEHRANTIMES - Neither Malavan nor Esteghlal football teams were able to produce a goal on Saturday.

In the first half, two teams had a lackluster performance in Bandar Anzali’s Takhti Stadium. The visiting team Esteghlal managed to slow things down since they will play its arch-rival Persepolis on Friday.

“We could have won the match if Iman Mousavi had scored his chance. Malavan played better and was dominant but we missed the best opportunity of the match,” Esteghlal coach Amir Ghalenoei said in the post-match news conference.

Elsewhere, Foolad was held to a goalless draw by Mes in Kerman.

Esteghlal stays at the top of the Iran Professional League (IPL) standings with 42 points. Traktorsazi is second with 41 points and Foolad is third 38 points.
