TEHRANTIMES - Persepolis football team hammered Malavan in Iran's Hazfi Cup round of 16 on Wednesday.

Yahya Golmohammadi, who replaced Manuel Jose last week, earned an incredible 6-0 victory over visiting Malavan in Tehran’s Azadi Stadium.

Hadi Norouzi put Persepolis ahead with a header just two minutes into the match. Karim Ansarifard scored second goal in the 19th minute.

Norouzi completed his brace five minutes after the break.

Ansarifard scored twice in the second half in the 76th and 80th minutes and completed his hat trick.

With seven minutes remaining, substitute Gholamreza Rezaei rubbed salt in the Malavan’s wounds, where he found the back of the net for the sixth time.

“I didn’t expect to win with six goals; however we should have scored more goals. I congratulate my players and also I want to thank the fans for coming to the game,” Golmohammadi said in the post-match news conference.
