PTV - Sepahan has edged past Zob Ahan 4-3 in a derby game in the 21st week of Iran’s Premier League (IPL).


The match was held at Fouladshahr stadium in Isfahan on Sunday.

Striker Xhevahir Sukaj gave Sepahan an early opener in the seventh minute, which himself doubled in the 15th minute. Mehdi Rajabzadeh from Zob Ahan scored a goal for his team in the 30th minute, but Omid Ebrahimi’s penalty kick for Sepahan caused the first half to end 3-1.

In the second half, Rajabzadeh gained the second point for Zob Ahan in the 57th minute from a penalty kick, which was followed by Ehsan Pahlevan’s goal in the 78th minute for the encounter to be leveled 3-3.

However, Moharram Navidkia’s penalty kick in the last minute of the match returned the lead to Sepahan.

In other matches of the day, Gahar blanked Peikan 2-0, Naft Tehran trounced Naft Abadan 4-1, Foulad edged past Aluminum 2-1, Damash drew with Saipa 1-1, Fajr Sepasi beat Malavan 2-1, Teraktorsazi blanked Rah Ahan 3-0, and the match between Saba and Persepolis was played out to a scoreless draw.

In other matches of the 21st week, on Monday, Esteqlal will take on Mes.

Teraktorsazi is currently on top of the IPL table with 38 points, followed by Esteqlal with the same number of points and a game in hand, and Foulad is the third with 37 points.
