TEHRANTIMES - Head of the Iran Football Federation Ali Kaffashian said on Tuesday that he has not decided to axe Carlos Queiroz.

Iran lost to Uzbekistan last week in the 2012 World Cup qualifier and has a difficult task to advance directly to the competitions.

“Iran has a difficult job for qualifying for the World Cup but we have not given up yet. I believe that we can advance to the competitions. Carlos Queiroz has done his best,” Kaffashian was quoted as saying by ISNA.

“Queiroz is moody and is sensitive to many things and we cannot tell him ‘change your behavior’ because technically he is a good coach,” he added.

“Queiroz will continue as Iran coach despite some bad results. He has a good knowledge of Iran’s football and helped us to get better,” Kaffashian stated.

Iran is third in Group A with seven points.

Uzbekistan is first with eight points and South Korea is second with seven points and one game in hand.

The top two teams of the group will clinch a place in the 2014 World Cup finals in Brazil.
