MEF - JEDDAH, Nov. 26: Iranian international forward Ali Karimi is currently targeted by Saudi giants Al-Ittihad, after parting company with Brazilian Bebeto, this has been reported on Tuesday in Jeddah.

Karimi, who moved to Dubai giants Al-Ahly last season for a two-year contract, proved an instant hit with the UAE outfits after claiming a regular first-team choice under two managers.

“It only depends on the way Al-Ahly are parading in the current Asian Champions’ League. They are still very much involved in the competition, and should they make a sudden exit, chances are great we can land the player,” Al-Riyadh daily paper quoted Al-Ittihad source as saying today.

Karimi, chased by Spanish and Italian clubs before opting for Al-Ahly of Dubai last year, had a big hand in kicking out Al-Ittihad arch-rivals, Al-Ahly of Jeddah, from this year’s edition of the Champions’ League, the UAE side beating their Saudi namesakes 3-2 at home before holding them to a 2-2 away draw to finally progress 5-4 on aggregate.
