PLDC - According to the Iranian Football Federation publicity manager, the
recently planned friendly match against Brazil (preliminary scheduled to be played in the near future) has now been postponed to the year 2003.
The reason for the cancellation of this match is the Brazilian request for the sum of $500,000 which Iran is unable to afford. After repeated
negotiations and talks with local and foreign sponsors for the game, none of them could apparently immediately provide the high finances
required for this match to take place.
Iranian Football Federation publicity manager expressed that the latest decision of the IFF the game is to include this game in the programs
for 2003 and provide the finances for the event when a suitable time has been agreed to. This friendly will seemingly be planned along with
others (i.e. South Korea and European matches).
Azadi sports complex will be ready in December and will be able to provide better services as of next year. The quality of filming of matches
will also be improved and upgraded. Iran is also in the process of negotiations with Italy to hold a possible friendly with the National Team
of the country.
