Gulf News - Al Ahli demolished Al Dhafra 6-0 in the First division
football league and registered the biggest victory in the league so far.
Al Ahli showed a marvellous performance yesterday to top the standing with
seven points from three matches and a good goal difference than Al Ain who
have also seven points after they beat arch rivals Al Wahda 5-3 in the
best league match played so far.
Al Dhafra, the new comers to the First division, were off colours
yesterday with their defence wide open infront of the Al Ahli attacks.
Al Ahli could have scored more goals had not their strikers lost several
chances.
This was the second successive defeat for Al Dhafra. They have only one
point from three matches.
Ali Karimi opened the score early in the 10th minute with a fine free kick
at the edge of the box. Karimi curled the ball cleverly that beat Ahmed
Khalil under the Dhafra bar.
Ali Karimi attacks caused many gaps at Al Dhafra back line who couldn't
stop him. Al Dhafra attacked through their two professionals Emannuel and
Dain Faie. But the moves were not so serious as their opponents.
The two coaches made early substitutes due to injuries. Salim Khamis went
out from Al Ahli, replaced by Hamada. The Dhafra striker Adel Mattar went
out, replaced by Badr Mohammed.
Al Ahli scored the second goal from the spot in 35 minute by Hasan Ibrahim
after Al Dhafra defender Omer Abdullah fouled Khalid Shah Dad inside the
penalty area. Mohammed Abdullah lost a good chance for Dhafra to reduce
the deficit three minutes before the break. He shot straight to the
keeper's body.
Al Ahli waited for 27 minutes after resumption to score their third goal
through defender Abdullah Shah who headed home following a cross by Khalid
Shah Dad. After one minute Jasim Akbar added the fourth when he lobed the
ball over the advancing goalkeeper. Dhafra attempts to attack were not so
dangerous, however Mohammed Abdullah low shot was saved by Ali Saeed to
the corner in 78 minute.
Al Ahli continued to attack. Hamada scored the fifth goal in 84th minute
following a one two pass with Shihab who replaced Iranian Karimi. Faisal
Khalil completed the rout four minutes before the final whistle by scoring
the sixth with a powerful shot into the far corner of the net.
Al Ittihad defeated Al Shabab 2-1 at Kalba stadium in the eastern coast.
