Georgia failed to gain an expected victory over Iran despite having the better of the play and going in front.

The home side took an early lead through Gorda Rustavi defender Zviad Labadze after good work from Wit Georgia Tbilisi forward Revaz Gotsiridze, but the Iranians fought back and equalised just before half-time.

Zadmahmud scored direct from a free-kick after a long spell of pressure.

The second half did not live up to the first and chances were few, but the Iranians will be happier with the result.
