Tehran, June 15 - "FIFA is going to
help Iran to start a football academy in the country," said the
chairman of the Iranian Football Federation, Mohsen Safaii Farahani, here
on Friday.
Farahani did not specify the exact date and city where the academy is
going to be set up.
He said that in the meeting he had with his Irish counterpart a friendly
game was agreed to be played by the two national teams.
Safaii Farahani, pointing to a similar understanding he had concluded with
his Tunisian counterpart, said: "In a meeting I had with Dutch
Football Federation officials, we agreed that dutch instructors would come
to Iran to teach two advanced football club management classes."
Talking about an upcoming "LG Cup" which is to be hosted by
Tehran, he said: "The LG Cup is going to be held in Tehran on
September 10-12 and we will soon announce the participating teams."
The chairman of the Iranian Football Federation further disclosed that the
Iranian national team will have a two week training session in Croatia in
July during which they will play against 5 Croatian clubs after which they
will head for Kiev (capital city of Ukraine) to play against this
country's national team."
