Dubai, June 15, IRNA -- Iranian striker Ali Karimi announced that he will stay at Al-Ahly of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) by the end of his contract.
An Abu Dhabi daily, Al-Ittihad, wrote Saturday despite other clubs' interest in recruiting Karimi, he will play for Al-Ahly.
The Iranian phenom signed a two-year contract in late June of 2001.
Al-Khaleej, a UAE's sports paper, also wrote that Al-Ahly finds it difficult to re-sign Karimi since his superb performance on the pitch has undoubtedly drawn the attention of Arab and European clubs.
The Iranian footballer starred last week and help Al-Ahly win the final 3-1 against Al-Jazeera and lift the trophy.
Karimi slotted home once and brought about a penalty that was converted and paved the way for the third goal.
With the victory, Al-Ahly snatched the championship title after six years, collecting a 95.6-thousand-dollar purse and gold medals.
Man of the Match, ALi Karimi, received 27 thousand dollars as reward.
