DUBAI, May
24 (AFP) - Veteran Iranian international striker Ali Daei has signed a
two-year contract with Al-Shabab of the United Arab Emirates, the club
announced on Friday.
Al-Shabab narrowly escaped relegation to the second division and have
recently traded two of their foreign stars, Brazilian Nelson and Mirdjalal
Kasimov of Uzbekistan.
Ali Daei is a former Asian player of the year who has played for German
giants Bayern Munich and Hertha Berlin.
A club source said the deal was worth more than one million dollars.
Club director Said Abdel Ghaffar said he was about to sign another
high-profile player "who is on the same level as Daei and who could
also be Iranian."
