IRNA - Iran's number one footballer in the past sports season, who will be selected at a ceremony in Tehran's Olympic Hotel on Thursday, is to receive the golden ball award.
At the upcoming ceremony, the main jury and 14 members of the selected football league and the first division of Iran football clubs will introduce the best players of the field.
The jury, who will award the golden ball and a statue to the best Iranian footballer, comprises of Majid Jalali, Amir Hadj Rezaie,  Abdol-Ali Changiz, Mohammad Panjali, Parviz Zahedi and Morteza Mohasses.
Crystal statues will be awarded to the best footballer, coach, team, referee, foreign player currently playing in Iran and the best in fair play.
This is the first time that the top Iranian footballer will be selected in Iran for the golden ball award. The move is sponsored by several Iranian sport media and is based on similar awards which is commonly presented by major world football periodicals.
