IRNA - Iran continue to maintain the 34th position in the world football and Asia's third best team after South Korea and Japan in the latest FIFA/Coca-Cola World Ranking, said a Asian Football Confederation (AFC) statement here Thursday.
The ranking was published on Wednesday by football's world governing body.
South Korea continue to hold the top ranking among AFC countries, their 21st-place world rating unchanged from last month.
Hard on their heels are Japan, whose 1-0 win over South Korea in Seoul has seen the team move up two places to 23rd in the table.
Next are Saudi Arabia, which fall three places in the table to 42nd-spot, then Iraq (down two to 56th), Thailand (down four to 59th) and China, whose inactivity in terms of international fixtures has seen them slip six places from 62nd to 68th place.
The table is topped by Brazil, comfortably ahead on points of nearest rivals, France and Spain, who are tied in second place.
