IRNA - Ali Fat'hollahzadeh, the managing director of Tehran's Esteqlal, at last gave up and quit the troubled blues on Tuesday.
Former managing director of Esteqlal Cultural-Sport Club officially resigned in a meeting of board of directors.
He told IRNA that he had already offered his resignation several times but the directorate members did not agree.
"I gave the board convincing reasons on Tuesday night and they at last let me quit the job," said Fat'hollahzadeh.
He proposed Javad Qarib, a board of directors member, as his successor who was later elected by the board .
Wishing Esteqlal great success in Iran Pro League, Fat'hollahzadeh asked the fans to keep supporting as before.
The understrength Esteqlal restored some part of its prestige on Tuesday as it crushed Zob Ahan here.
Playing a 23rd week match of Iran Pro League (IPL), visitor blues grabbed a badly needed win by trouncing Zob 3-0 in Fouladshahr Stadium of Isfahan.
