Tehran Times - Iran men’s national futsal team maintained their position in sixth place in the latest Asociación Mundial de Futsal (AMF) rankings.

According to the latest classification published by the AMF, which is the governing body of futsal, the Iranian squad notched up 1,608 points.

Brazil remain top in the world with 1,916 points, followed by Spain with 1889 and Russia with 1763 points.

Argentina and Italy are fourth and fifth with 1706 and 1619 points respectively.

Asian teams Thailand and Japan are 15th and 16th with 1360 and 1359 points respectively in the AMF rankings.

Iran finished at third place at the FIFA Futsal World Cup Colombia 2016 after a 4-3 penalty shootout win over Portugal following a 2-2 draw.

Iran also won the title of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Futsal Championship for the 11th time in last year’s February.
