PFDC - It was announced today that the former Iran coach, Mohammad Mayeli Kohan has been elected as the head coach for the Iranian Olympic team for the Athens 2004.

In a question on why he had not released any information about his election before, he says:

"It was because I had never been approached by IFF before. Dr. Dadkan called me on Saturday and we met on Sunday and then it was decided that I become the head coach."

"The only problem we have now is that many qualified u-23 players are playing for the senior national team currently. We would need to work on this issue. Also we have not yet gotten the schedules for Athens Olympic games yet so it is hard for us to start planning now." says Kohan.

Mayeli Kohan also talks about his staff:

"It is already decided that Nader Faryad-shiran will become my assistant. Also we will invite Majid Jahanpour. This coaching staff will be the same as in 1996 when Iran performed very well, so I intend to bring it back."

Mayeli Kohan also thanks the media and asks them for their support:

"We are all like a family. The coaches, players, the media and even the IFF president. We need to get together and support our team to enter the Athens 2004. I will accept constructive comments from all of you and ask you to support the national team 100%."
