TEHRAN - Sepahan Sunday handed Esteqlal of Tehran a bitter defeat in the first-leg match of the League Cup in Isfahan. Playing a smooth football in front of some 7,000 fans in Naqsh-e Jahan Stadium, Sepahan hit three to win the derby 3-0.
Nasser Farshbaf slotted home in the 52nd and 72nd minutes and Seyed Mohammad completed the blues rout as he netted 10 minutes later.
In early second half, Esteqlal reduced to 10 men when Farzad Majidi was sent off for second bookable offense. Jalal Moradi refereed the match.
