U-19 Iran Team

MNA - National Iranian junior football squad has left Tehran for Seoul to take part at South Korea’s U-19 Football Tournament 2016.

The tournament marks a preparatory stage for the FIFA U-20 World Cup Korea Republic 2017 and will be attended by South Korea, Nigeria and England.

Given that Iran cruised to AFC U-19 Championship semifinals and got tickets to next year’s FIFA U-20 World Cup, the Iranian squad, comprising 18 players, was deployed to South Korea on Saturday evening.

Iranians are scheduled to take on the host country team on November 18 in their opening encounter at the tournament to be held during November 18-20, 2016.

The 2017 FIFA U-20 World Cup will be the 21st edition of the FIFA U-20 World Cup, the biennial international men's youth football championship contested by the under-20 national teams of the member associations of FIFA, since its inception in 1977 as the FIFA World Youth Championship.

The tournament will be hosted by South Korea between 20 May and 11 June 2017.
